Mamaku Project est une formation franco-néo-zélandaise qui a su s’affranchir des étiquettes afin de se créer une identité forte, entre sonorités gypsy, dub et chanson, avec subtiles incorporations de samples. Né de la rencontre entre Tui Mamaki, voix du pacifique sud et Monsieur Escargot, multi-instrumentiste parisien expatrié en Nouvelle-Zélande, Mamaku Project embarquent le spectateur dans l’univers poétique d’un cirque apatride. Inspirés par l’incroyable environnement naturel Néo-Zélandais et imprégné des patchworks culturels de leurs racines françaises et australes, ils apportent une bouffée d’air frais avec un paysage musical unique en son genre, une concoction à la fois détonnante et planante.

The Mamaku Project is the meeting of two French/NewZealanders. To bridge their cultures, they have woven French Bohemian Roots, South Pacifica Dub and Eastern flavours from their travels into a captivating musical concoction, wowing festival audiences of all ages in NZ and abroad since 2005. Featuring voice, accordion, synthesizers, samplers, nguru (Maori flute), and textural, cinematic guitar by Gareth Price. The repertoire plays on interactions between acoustic and electronic impulses and delivers evocative poetical texts, often inspired by the breathtaking landscapes of Aotearoa/NZ, where they are based.
